There’s no time to grieve! Your Uncle Karl — a dentist who was, let’s say, a little eccentric — has passed away. What starts as a dry reading of the will at the notary’s office spirals into full-blown chaos in record time.

Only once the will is read aloud does it dawn on you what Uncle Karl has really left you: the fate of the entire world. Saboteurs, timelines, and the survival of humanity are all on the line. You’ll have to step into Karl’s shoes, rise to the occasion, and make the impossible possible. Become superheroes — just don’t expect humanity to thank you for it afterward.

From the dentist’s chair to the future

“2218” grew out of the wish to build a real counterpoint to our historical classic — an off-the-wall sci-fi adventure that doesn’t take itself too seriously but pulls out all the technical stops.

Getting there was just as wild as the story itself. We’d originally pictured a sterile, all-white psychiatric-ward set — the first cabinets were already sitting there, still in their packaging — until an absolutely charming original 1972 dentist’s office in bright orange caught our eye on eBay. That settled it: the white cabinets went straight back to IKEA, we rented a van, and hauled the entire 1970s practice from Kassel to Kaiserslautern ourselves.

What began as an idea to push an ordinary reading of a will to absurd extremes turned into a colorful mix of retro charm, inventive spirit, and special effects. A room with heart, humor, and plenty of bang.
